Most common types of companies in Austria

- Current status of corporations and registered partnerships -

The leader of the companies registered in the commercial register is clearly the ltd (just under 213,000), which represents an increase of 6% in the period 30.6.2024 to 31.3.2026.

The number of Flexible corporations (FlexCo) Has there been during this period more than quadrupled. As a “young” legal form, which was only introduced on 1.1.2024, FlexCo has the legal form of Joint stock company (AG) Already outnumbered.

Die European Stock Company (SE) hasn't really gained a foothold in Austria since its introduction in 2004 (now a total of 42 companies).

Open companies (OG) and Limited Partnerships (KG) As typical legal forms for small and medium-sized enterprises, the numbers have remained more or less the same (OG: growth 1%, KG: decline 1%).
